PHYS 50501 - Introduction to Solid State Physics
The course is intended to introduce the principles of the behavior electrons and phonons in solids, advanced concepts and applications, such as low-dimensional systems and superconductivity, and set the conceptual framework needed for future study and graduate research in condensed matter physics or technology-related industry. Topics will iinclude: cystal structure and diffraction, phonons and heat capacity, free electron gas and elementary band theory, semiconductors, magnetism, and superconductivity
