ENVG 40480 - Chemistry of Lanthanides and Actinides
This course will cover a wide variety of topics involving the chemistry of the f-block elements. Topics will include periodic trends, aqueous and environmental geochemistry, solid-state chemistry, and physical properties. The course will begin with a brief history of the discovery of these elements. The fundamental knowledge gained early in this course will be applied to the critical probelms of nuclear energy production and waste remediation. This will be a primary literature-based course.
