AME 47431 - Special Studies: Designing Energy-Efficient Buildings
Project-based course, integrating lectures on energy efficient design concepts into a semester-long design and simulation of an energy-efficient building. Architecture and engineering students will be split into groups to tackle a building design problem. Engineering students will digitize and simulate the energy performance of conceptual designs using the commercial software Sketch-Up and the Dept. of Energy simulation package EnergyPlus. Students will be required to present their designs and their design choices made based on the engineering simulations.
